Welcome to our Web page

Optical Trapping is a powerful tool in a wide range of applications for biology, chemistry, material science and physics. We focused our interest the application of Optical Tweezers to study the mechanical and spectroscopic properties of materials like polymeric solution and living cells.
We use OT to manipulate dielectric probes such as polystyrene beads to investigate the viscoelastic properties of the medium in which they are embedded.
When combined with spectroscopic techniques, like Raman Spectroscopy, Optical Tweezers allows the investigation of a single selected object in its natural environment. One of the most intriguing applications of Raman Spectroscopy is the possibiliy of sorting and identification of cells.
